TST-282S is an aircraft thermoelectric temperature measuring set used for remote measurement of average exhaust gas temperature in aircraft engines. The system provides the flight crew with temperature data required for monitoring the thermal condition of the powerplant. It is used to control engine operating modes and help prevent turbine overheating. The system works through thermocouples installed in the gas flow and a cockpit indicator that displays the measured temperature.
The measuring principle is based on thermoelectromotive force generated by thermocouples when their hot junctions are heated by exhaust gases. The signal from the thermocouples is transmitted to the measuring instrument, where it is converted into a temperature reading. The system measures engine gas temperature remotely, so the cockpit instrument does not contact the gas flow directly. Correct indication depends on the condition of the thermocouples, wiring, connection block, indicator and aircraft power supply.
The basic set includes T-82K thermocouples installed in the engine exhaust gas path. These sensors generate the input signal used by the temperature indicator. The thermocouple circuit is important for accuracy, because poor contact, damaged wires or incorrect connection can affect the displayed value. The system also includes connection and mounting elements used to integrate the thermocouples with the onboard measuring circuit. In maintenance, the thermocouples and indicator should be checked as one temperature measuring chain.
TST-282S is used on helicopters and aircraft equipped with compatible gas temperature monitoring systems. Typical applications include Mi-8, Mi-17, Mi-171, Mi-172, Ka-32 and Tu-134 platforms, depending on aircraft configuration. The system may be used with aircraft engines where exhaust gas temperature is one of the main parameters for safe operation. A digital modification, TST-282S-Ts, may be used in some later configurations. Exact applicability should be confirmed through the aircraft and engine documentation.
Before ordering, the complete set composition and modification should be checked. The system may include the TST-2 indicator, T-82K thermocouples, plug, connection block, tips, contact screw and spare hardware. The digital version may use the TST-2-Ts indicator.
