Description

ERD-3VM Series 2 electronic engine regulator

ERD-3VM Series 2 is an electronic engine regulator used in aircraft powerplant control systems. The unit works as part of the electronic section of the engine control architecture, where it processes input signals and forms output commands for actuating devices. It is not a mechanical fuel unit and should not be treated as a standalone engine governor. Its role is to support controlled engine operation through electrical signal processing, command generation and interaction with the fuel metering and shutdown circuits.

Signal processing in ERD-3VM Series 2

During operation, the regulator receives signals from onboard sensors and converts them into a usable form for the control program. The internal electronics normalize incoming data, compare operating conditions with the embedded control logic and generate output commands in real time. These commands are then sent to the relevant actuators in the engine control system. The unit is intended for continuous operation within the aircraft electrical system and must be connected according to the approved wiring diagram and system documentation.

ERD-3VM Series 2 in fuel control circuits

The regulator is used to support fuel metering, rotational speed control, throttle response and controlled engine shutdown. In practical terms, it helps the system maintain stable engine operation by adjusting control signals according to sensor inputs and the programmed operating law. It can interact with fuel metering devices and shutdown actuators, including circuits used during free turbine operation. If engine response or shutdown behavior is abnormal, the regulator should be checked together with sensors, actuators, wiring and power supply.

Aircraft application of ERD-3VM Series 2

ERD-3VM Series 2 is installed in aircraft engine electronic control systems where electronic regulation is required. Exact applicability depends on the engine type, aircraft modification and installed control system configuration. Similar units may differ by series, program version, connector arrangement or approved installation. For this reason, replacement should be confirmed through the aircraft maintenance documentation, engine control system documentation or the product passport, not only by the general name of the regulator.

Identification and ordering of ERD-3VM Series 2

Before ordering, the full marking and series number should be checked carefully. ERD-3VM Series 2 may also be referenced as ERD-3VMA Series 2 or ЭРД-3ВМ серии 2. For correct selection, provide the aircraft type, engine type, control system designation, installed unit marking, serial number and, where possible, a photo of the data plate. The passport reference is also important, especially for repaired, stored or service-life-controlled units.
