Description

Non-contact speed sensor DChV-2500A

DChV-2500A is an aircraft non-contact rotational speed sensor used in engine control and monitoring systems. It converts shaft or rotor speed into electrical voltage pulses whose frequency is proportional to rotation speed. The sensor is a primary transducer. It does not display RPM and does not process the signal like an electronic control unit. Its output is sent to automatic control systems, onboard monitoring circuits or counting devices that use the frequency signal for engine speed measurement.

Signal generation through DChV-2500A

The DChV-2500A works by detecting the passage of ferromagnetic teeth on a gear or special toothed inductor near the sensitive element of the sensor. As each tooth passes the sensor face, the magnetic field changes and a voltage pulse is induced in the winding. The pulse frequency follows shaft speed. The output amplitude also depends on frequency, so correct installation clearance and condition of the toothed element matter. If the air gap is wrong, the signal can become weak even when the sensor itself is serviceable.

DChV-2500A in engine control systems

The sensor is used in automatic control systems of turbojet and turboshaft engines. It supplies speed information for measurement of engine shaft RPM, counting of revolutions in counter circuits and detection of shaft position within a half-turn where required by the system. DChV-2500A has two electrically isolated output channels, which gives the control system a duplicated signal source. This is useful in engine systems where loss of a single channel should not immediately remove speed feedback from the control logic.

Aircraft and engine application of DChV-2500A

DChV-2500A is associated with TV3-117 engines, including MT, VK, VM and VMA variants, as well as VSU-10 auxiliary power units. It is used on Mi-8 and Ka-32 helicopters and also appears in applications connected with Il-96-300 and Tu-204 aircraft. On engines such as the TV3-117 family, DChV-2500 / DChV-2500A sensors may be installed on accessory gearboxes or drive boxes for low-pressure rotor, high-pressure rotor and free turbine speed measurement. Exact placement depends on the engine modification and control system layout.

Identification and ordering of DChV-2500A

Before ordering DChV-2500A, the sensor marking should be checked against the engine manual, aircraft parts catalog and automatic control system documentation. Similar speed sensors may differ by channel arrangement, cable version, connector type, installation geometry or approved engine application. For correct selection, provide the aircraft type, engine or APU type, installation position and a photo of the data plate if available. The product is also known under alternative designations DChV-2500A, DCHV-2500A, ДЧВ-2500А and ДЧВ2500А.
