Description

Primary transducer D-1M for tachometer systems

The D-1M is a primary tachometer transducer used to convert shaft rotation speed into an electromotive force with a frequency proportional to the shaft speed. Structurally, it is a three-phase AC generator with a permanent-magnet rotor. The unit is installed on the drive of the monitored object and works as the sensing part of a tachometer system. It does not display speed by itself. The indication is made by the connected cockpit or panel instrument.

D-1M signal generation principle

During operation, rotation from the object drive shaft is transmitted to the D-1M rotor through the tailpiece connection. As the permanent-magnet rotor rotates, the transducer generates a three-phase alternating signal. The signal frequency changes in proportion to shaft speed, and the indicating instrument converts this into pointer movement. The measurement principle is based on the interaction between the magnetic field of rotating permanent magnets and induced currents in the measuring element of the indicator.

D-1M in the TMi1-M1 tachometer set

The D-1M primary transducer is used together with an indicating instrument as part of the TMi1-M1 tachometer. One indicating instrument is connected to the transducer. Same-type primary transducers and indicators are interchangeable when they match the approved system configuration. In service, the D-1M should be checked together with the indicator, wiring, drive connection and mechanical mounting, because an incorrect speed indication may come from the sensor, the indicator or the drive coupling.

Installation and mechanical connection of D-1M

The D-1M is attached to the object drive by a four-lug flange. Rotation is transmitted from the drive shaft to the rotor through a tailpiece inserted into the rotor bushing and secured by the square end and locking element. A seal is installed between the rotor bushing and the tailpiece to prevent lubricant from entering the internal cavity of the transducer. This detail matters during installation and overhaul, because contamination inside the unit can affect operation and service life.

Identification and ordering of D-1M

Before ordering D-1M, the marking should be checked against the tachometer documentation, aircraft or equipment parts catalog and installed indicator type. It is important to confirm whether the request is for the primary transducer only or for a complete tachometer set with the indicator. For correct selection, provide the equipment type, tachometer set designation, required climatic version and, if available, a photo of the nameplate. The product is also known under alternative designations D-1M, D1 M, D1M, d-1m, d 1m, d1m and Д-1М.
