Description

Aircraft ignition plug SP-26PZT

SP-26PZT is an aircraft semiconductor ignition plug used in gas turbine engine ignition systems. It is installed in the combustion chamber area and creates the spark discharge needed to ignite the fuel-air mixture during engine start. This is a screened, non-disassemblable low-voltage plug, not a common open-gap spark plug. In the ignition circuit it works together with an ignition unit, high-voltage lead, engine start controls and onboard electrical power.

Surface-discharge ignition through SP-26PZT

The plug ignites fuel through a spark plume that travels over the surface of a semiconductor element placed between the central and side electrodes. This surface-discharge design is used where ignition must remain stable in a fuel-rich, hot and high-pressure environment. The plug does not create the required discharge by itself. It receives energy from the ignition unit, such as SK-22-2K, and turns that pulse into a working discharge at the firing end.

SP-26PZT with TV3-117 and aircraft engines

SP-26PZT is associated with ignition systems of gas turbine engines, including TV3-117 family engines used on Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters. It is also referenced for aircraft engine applications such as An-148 type aircraft systems. Exact compatibility depends on the engine version, ignition unit, cable connection and combustion chamber installation. For replacement, the plug should be selected by the engine documentation and full marking, not only by aircraft type.

Construction and installation of SP-26PZT

The plug has high-strength ceramic insulation and a screened body. Screening reduces high-frequency pulse interference that may affect onboard radio and navigation equipment. The plug is installed on the upper flanges of the combustion chamber housing, according to engine layout. During inspection, the ceramic surface, semiconductor insert, electrodes, shielding connection and sealing area should be checked. Damage in these areas can cause weak ignition, unstable starting or leakage at the mounting point.

Identification and ordering of SP-26PZT

Before ordering SP-26PZT, the marking should be compared with the engine manual, aircraft parts catalog or ignition system documentation. Similar aviation ignition plugs may differ by voltage class, working element, thread or flange installation, shielding and approved engine use. For correct selection, provide the aircraft type, engine type, ignition unit type and part number from the maintenance documents. The product is also known under alternative designations SP-26PZT and СП-26ПЗТ.
