8AT-9650-300 is an onboard aircraft cargo boom designed for use as part of the cargo lifting equipment installed on Mi-8 / Mi-17 family helicopters. The boom is used for lifting small cargo and personnel into the helicopter cargo cabin, as well as for lowering them to the ground during hover or on the ground. The designation 8AT-9650-300 refers to the boom assembly without the electric hoist.
The 8AT-9650-300 boom provides a structural support point for lifting operations through the helicopter side door area. During operation, the boom allows the hoist cable to be extended outside the helicopter fuselage, keeping the lifted load clear of the door opening and nearby structural elements. The maximum permitted load for the boom is 150 kg, which must not be exceeded during operation.
The 8AT-9650-300 boom is designed to work together with the LPG-150M onboard electric hoist. The hoist provides powered lifting and lowering of cargo or personnel, while the boom provides the mechanical support and working radius for the cable. The electric hoist itself is not included in the 8AT-9650-300 designation unless separately specified in the supply set. Hoist power supply and emergency manual operation are defined by the hoist documentation.
The boom is installed inside the cargo cabin near the forward sliding entrance door on the left side of the helicopter. Its mounting points are arranged around the door opening and cabin structure according to helicopter documentation. The boom is a pivoting structure and can be turned around its vertical mounting axis to position the lifting cable inside the doorway or outside the helicopter during loading, unloading or rescue-related operations.
The 8AT-9650-300 boom is a welded tubular structure designed to withstand operational loads during lifting operations. The boom geometry is matched to the door opening and cabin arrangement of Mi-8 / Mi-17 helicopters. Its working reach allows the hoist cable and suspended load to be moved outside the fuselage contour, while the support structure transfers load into the helicopter mounting points.
Several related components may be listed together with the 8AT-9650-300 cargo boom in helicopter catalogs and supply requests. These may include the 8AT-9650-330 swivel with weight, 8AT-9650-195 boom base and 8AT-9650-310 boom support. For correct supply, it is important to specify whether the request concerns only the boom without hoist, a complete boom installation kit or separate related elements of the onboard cargo lifting system.
