Function in the radar display channel

The unit controls the sweep timing or scan-deflection functions required by the associated radar indicator. It therefore belongs to the display and timing channel, not the microwave transmitter-receiver. The exact sweep waveforms, synchronization inputs and output connectors depend on the KP2 radar execution and must be verified from the passport.

Documented Il-76 system context

KP2 equipment is documented in the navigation-radar complex of the Ilyushin Il-76. Related products include the KP2-30-5 transmitter-receiver monoblock, its BS1-3K receiver and the KP1-801 power supply of the computing section. These blocks cooperate in Kupol but perform different functions.

Identification and compatibility

Aviation stock records explicitly use the Russian name “блок управления развертками индикатора КП2-48В”. Confirm КП2-48В on the data plate, drawing or assembly number, indicator type, connector keying and radar modification. Do not interpret the suffix В as an electrical value and do not substitute KP2-6A or other sweep blocks without matching documentation.
