BS1-3K
Aircraft Radar Receiver Unit
Description
BS1-3K aircraft radar receiver unit
BS1-3K is an aircraft receiver unit documented together with the VChG high-frequency head in the radar equipment of the Kupol navigation complex. Maintenance material for the Il-76 identifies BS1-3K as the receiver inside the KP2-30-5 transmitter-receiver monoblock. This system relationship is more precise than the former generic description “control unit”.

Function in the Kupol radar channel
Within the KP2V navigation radar channel, BS1-3K receives and processes the reflected microwave signal supplied by the associated high-frequency assembly. The complete channel supports the navigation and weather-observation tasks of the Ilyushin Il-76 equipment complex. BS1-3K is a subassembly of the radar chain and should not be ordered as a standalone substitute for the complete KP2-30-5 monoblock.
Associated equipment and interfaces
The documented installation connects BS1-3K with the UP12-MK transmitter, the VChG head and the other KP2V-RLS-P assemblies. A directly related catalogue position is the KP2-30-5 transmitter-receiver monoblock. KP2-48V controls indicator sweeps, while KP1-801 powers a different computing section of Kupol; shared system membership does not make these units interchangeable.
Identification and compatibility
Open service listings also show the execution BS1-3K-5. The suffix must not be omitted when it appears on the data plate, because receiver execution, connectors or tuning can differ. Confirm the complete Cyrillic marking БС1-3К, suffix, drawing number, high-frequency head, connector keys and KP2V radar configuration before replacement. Electrical alignment values and connector assignments require the product passport or approved radar maintenance manual.
Inspection, testing and supply
Incoming inspection covers the enclosure, plug connectors, waveguide or high-frequency interfaces, rack fasteners, seals and legibility of the complete nameplate. Functional testing must be performed with compatible radar equipment and calibrated bench instruments; an isolated power-up is not a valid serviceability check. State the aircraft, radar execution, full designation, quantity and documentation requirements in the enquiry. Related avionics are listed under Electronic Control Units.
