BCS-4-1AT fuel balancing unit
BCS-4-1AT is the established Latin catalogue form of the Russian БЦС-4-1АТ centering unit. Aircraft technical documentation identifies it as part of the ATsT5-1BT automatic fuel balancing and capacitance fuel-quantity system. The block is not a flight-control centre-of-gravity computer; its “centering” function concerns balanced fuel consumption between the left and right wing tanks.

Function in the ATsT5-1BT system
The system automatically keeps fuel consumption balanced between corresponding left- and right-wing tanks while also measuring total and individual fuel quantities. BCS-4-1AT participates in the automatic balancing channel and works with the measuring/conversion and switching equipment. It also supports the logic associated with minimum-fuel warnings for the caisson tanks as defined by the installed system.
Documented Yak-40 installation
The Yak-40 technical description places BCS-4-1AT in the right equipment compartment as part of ATsT5-1BT. The documented set includes ten DT-30V tank sensors, two DTSK1A-2T temperature-compensation sensors, the BIP2-7T measuring/conversion block, UK2-1AT switching unit and PPTI3-2TA indicator. The exact aircraft effectivity must still be checked by serial number.
Power and system interfaces
The ATsT5-1BT system documentation specifies 28.5 V DC and 115 V, 400 Hz AC supplies. These are system power values and should not be treated as a complete standalone BCS-4-1AT pin specification. Selection requires the full Cyrillic marking БЦС-4-1АТ, drawing and series, connectors, aircraft wiring and the companion-block execution. The related BCS-6-1T belongs to a different fuel system.
Inspection and ordering
Inspect the front panel, controls or indicators, connectors, rack fittings, seals and data plate. Functional testing must reproduce tank-sensor signals and switching logic with the approved ATsT5-1BT procedure.
