A-324-016 coordinate-processing unit

A-324-016 is a signal-processing unit of the A-324 Klystron short-range radio-navigation equipment. Public system references place the 016 execution in the coordinate-computation section of the set. It works with the receiver, transmitter and other computing equipment to turn radio-navigation measurements into information used by the aircraft navigation and guidance circuits.

Navigation functions in the installed set

The complete A-324 system determines range and azimuth relative to a selected ground beacon, supports dead reckoning, corrects the calculated position and generates guidance for route, return and landing modes. A-324 equipment is documented in descriptions of the Su-24. The exact 016 installation remains configuration-dependent, so the aircraft equipment list and wiring diagram govern effectivity.

Published A-324 performance data

The system provides 176 navigation channels and 40 landing channels. Published frequency ranges are 726–812.8 MHz from aircraft to ground and 873–1000.5 MHz from ground to aircraft. Polar-coordinate accuracy is stated as ±0.25° in azimuth and ±(0.2 + 0.0003D) km in range, where D is the measured distance. These are system-level values and must not be used as standalone bench limits for A-324-016.

Relationship to other A-324 units

A-324-016 is associated with the A-312-001 receiver, A-312-002 transmitter and A-324-001 processor. Suffixes 001 and 016 identify different units. Matching only the A-324 family name is insufficient: compare the complete marking, connector arrangement, mounting, modification and documentation for the installed set.

Inspection and ordering

Check the housing, contacts, connector keys, mounting points, seals and plate before an approved system test. A request should include the full A-324-016 designation, aircraft type and modification, A-324 configuration, required condition, quantity, passport and delivery set.
