From 0 to 20 meters, the scale division is 2 meters. From 20 to 50 meters, it changes to 5 meters. From 50 to 100 meters, the scale uses 10-meter divisions, and from 100 to 700 meters the divisions increase to 50 meters. This layout makes the indicator practical for cockpit reading, especially during the most critical low-altitude phases.

Dangerous height warning on the A-034-4-24

The indicator includes a hazardous altitude setting function. A combined rotary selector and warning lamp allows the pilot to set the required danger-height threshold directly on the instrument. When the aircraft descends to the selected value, the warning output activates and the yellow “Dangerous Height” triangle indicator illuminates. This gives the crew a clear visual warning without requiring constant manual comparison of the pointer position with the scale. The function is especially useful during descent, approach, low visibility, night flight or operation over water.

The A-034-4-24 has a front-panel TEST push button for checking radio altimeter serviceability. When the system is functioning correctly, pressing TEST moves the pointer to the 15-meter reference indication.
