Description
Purpose of 6E1P
The 6E1P is an electronic light indicator used for visual tuning of AM superheterodyne receivers and for displaying recording level in tape recorders. It can also indicate signal level in transmitters and measuring equipment. The phosphor target emits green light, making changes in the applied control voltage visible without a separate meter.

Construction and indication
The tube has an indirectly heated oxide cathode and a miniature glass envelope with a nine-pin button base. It may operate in any position. Unlike the end-view display of the earlier 6E5S, the 6E1P target is viewed from the side; the two types therefore require different sockets and circuit conditions and should not be treated as direct drop-in substitutes.
Selection and installation
Check the complete 6E1P marking, nine-pin connection, heater supply and target-anode circuit before installation. Reference equivalents such as EM80 or 6BR5 still require verification against the original equipment documentation.
