GS-17B is a high-power metal-ceramic generator tetrode for radio-frequency power amplification and generation at frequencies up to 1000 MHz. The tube is selected by its exact designation, operating frequency and cooling requirements.

Construction and cooling
The device has coaxial ring contacts, ceramic insulation and an integral finned radiator. It requires forced-air cooling. Heater voltage is 3.1–3.5 V and heater current is 160 ± 12 A.
Operating data
Maximum anode voltage is 5.5 kV and maximum anode dissipation is 10 kW. Input capacitance is 55 ± 5 pF, output capacitance 22.5 ± 1.5 pF and transfer capacitance no more than 0.05 pF.
Selection and pre-installation checks
Overall dimensions do not exceed approximately 205 × 160 mm and mass is no more than 6.6 kg. Before installation, the ring contacts, ceramic insulation, radiator and specified cooling-air path should be checked.
