GMI-5
Pulse modulator tetrode
Description
Purpose and application
GMI-5 is a glass pulse modulator tetrode designed for switching in pulse modulators. The tube is selected by its exact designation and operating circuit because its high-voltage pulse mode differs from ordinary receiving tubes.
Full descriptionCollapse description
Construction
The tube has a glass envelope, a top anode contact and a multi-pin metal base. The cathode is oxide-coated and indirectly heated. Heater voltage is 23.5–28.5 V and current is 1.75 ± 0.15 A.
Operating data
Maximum anode voltage is 20 kV and minimum pulse anode current is 16 A. The tube is intended for short-pulse operation; the exact pulse duration and duty cycle must follow the equipment documentation.
Cooling and selection
Natural cooling is normally used. The envelope is approximately 130 mm high and 67 mm in diameter, mass is approximately 300 g and minimum service life is 250 hours.
Vacuum device construction is outlined in the vacuum tube article. Related products are listed under generator and modulator tubes.
