Purpose and application

GMI-29B-1 is a high-power pulse modulator tetrode for switching high-voltage pulses in powerful modulator circuits. Its electrical and thermal class requires a dedicated heater supply, grid circuits and a forced-air cooling system.

Construction

The large metal-glass and ceramic tube has a dense external finned radiator, a glass central section and a ceramic upper insulator. Heater voltage is 12.6 V and heater current is 69.5 ± 3.5 A. The complete electrode and cooling connections must follow the equipment passport.

Operating data

The screen-grid pulse voltage is 2 kV and the control-grid pulse voltage is −1.1 kV. Input capacitance is no more than 290 pF, output capacitance no more than 55 pF, and transfer capacitance no more than 2.5 pF. Minimum specified service life is 500 hours.

Cooling and selection

Forced-air cooling is mandatory for the external radiator. The cathode requires at least 4.5 minutes to warm up; the working circuit should allow up to five minutes before applying the operating pulse mode. Inspect the fins, glass-metal seals, ceramic insulators and terminals before installation.
