GMI-10
Pulse modulator tetrode
Description
Purpose and application
GMI-10 is a pulse modulator tetrode used as a high-speed switching device in pulse radio-transmitter modulators. The tube controls high-voltage pulses supplied to the output stage and is selected by its full designation and the operating circuit of the equipment.
Full descriptionCollapse description
Construction
The glass envelope contains an indirectly heated oxide cathode and a compact electrode assembly. The heater operates at 5.7–6.9 V with a current of 5.25 ± 0.5 A. The base, pin arrangement and electrode connections must correspond to the original socket.
Operating data
The pulse anode current is at least 13 A and remains at least 10 A at a heater voltage of 5.7 V. Input capacitance is 40 ± 20 pF, output capacitance 6 ± 2 pF, and transfer capacitance no more than 0.7 pF. Minimum service life is 250 hours.
Cooling and selection
GMI-10 may operate with natural or forced-air cooling, depending on the equipment. The envelope temperature must not exceed 250 °C; the specified ambient range is from −60 to +85 °C. Before installation, inspect the glass, electrode supports and pins and verify the modulator settings.
Vacuum device construction is outlined in the vacuum tube article. Related devices are listed under generator and modulator tubes.
