Purpose and application
GK-5A is a high-power generator triode for producing and amplifying RF energy in radio transmitters and industrial high-frequency heating equipment. Its power class requires dedicated high-voltage, heater and cooling systems.

Construction
The metal-glass construction uses a directly heated thoriated, carburised tungsten cathode. Heater voltage is 17 V and operating heater current is 580 ± 30 A; starting current may reach 720 A.
Operating data
Reference data include pulse cathode emission of at least 250 A at 2 kV and transconductance of at least 100 mA/V. The tube is approximately 518 mm high and 280 mm in diameter, with a mass near 19 kg.
Cooling and selection
Cooling is combined: the anode and cathode/grid terminals use water circuits, while the stem, envelope and seals require forced airflow. Before installation, verify the complete GK-5A marking, mounting flange, water connections and equipment passport.
