GI-48
Metal-ceramic generator triode
Description
Purpose and operating mode
GI-48 is a compact generator triode for producing oscillations and amplifying RF power in specialised radio equipment. It is designed for pulse operation and delivers at least 1 kW of pulse output at a reference frequency of 900 MHz.

Construction and cooling
The metal-ceramic body has disc electrode terminals and flexible heater leads. Published product listings show versions with a threaded or unthreaded anode terminal; this card covers the GI-48 designation, so the required mechanical version must be stated when ordering.
Key operating data
The heater is rated at 6.3 V and 415 ± 55 mA. Reference values include an anode current of 31 ± 14 mA, transconductance around 10 mA/V and gain factor 30 ± 10. Maximum pulse anode voltage is 2 kV and anode dissipation with a radiator is 15 W.
Selection and pre-installation checks
Before installation, verify whether the equipment requires the threaded or unthreaded version, then compare the disc terminals and flexible leads. Inspect the ceramic rings and seals; the technical specification is TF3.320.011 TU.
General operating principles are described in the vacuum tube article. Related devices are listed under generator and modulator tubes.
