Purpose and operating mode

The GI-31 is a compact pulse generator triode for producing high-frequency oscillations in decimetre- and centimetre-wave equipment. With pulse anode modulation it delivers at least 1.5 kW of RF pulse output at frequencies up to 2100 MHz.

Construction and cooling

The device uses a metal-ceramic body and an indirectly heated oxide cathode. Its 6.3 V heater draws 0.95 ± 0.05 A. The compact package is no more than 35 mm high and 25.8 mm in diameter, with a maximum mass of 18 g.

Key operating data

In the reference pulse mode the anode pulse voltage is 2.5 kV, pulse current 2.1 A, pulse duration up to 3 µs and duty factor 500. The tube may operate in any physical position, but the electrode contacts and surrounding RF structure must follow the equipment design.

Selection and pre-installation checks

Selection requires the exact GI-31 marking and the specified metal-ceramic interface. Check the ceramic, contact faces and mounting surfaces before installation. The technical specification is ST3.323.039 TU.
