GI-30
Double beam pulse tetrode
Description
Purpose and operating mode
The GI-30 is a double beam tetrode used to generate, amplify and modulate high-frequency oscillations in pulse equipment. Two symmetrical electrode systems are housed in one glass envelope, allowing the device to handle short high-current pulses in RF generator and amplifier stages.

Construction and cooling
The tube has a clear baseless glass envelope with two anode terminals at the top and a circular pin arrangement below. Its indirectly heated oxide cathode may be supplied at 6.3 V with the heater sections in parallel or at 12.6 V with them in series.
Key operating data
Reference limits include a 5 kV anode pulse voltage, at least 9 A pulse anode current and a maximum pulse duration of 1 µs. The average anode dissipation is limited to 7.5 W per section. Overall dimensions are approximately 110 mm in height and 61 mm in diameter; mass is about 125 g.
Selection and pre-installation checks
GI-30 must be installed vertically with the envelope upward. Before fitting, inspect the glass, top seals and pins, then verify the heater connection and pulse circuit. Similar double-beam tubes are not automatically interchangeable.
General operating principles are described in the vacuum tube reference article. Other devices of this class are listed under generator and modulator tubes.
