45LM5V purpose

The tube converts electrical signals into a visible image on a phosphor screen. Its operating mode is set by the heater, acceleration, focusing and beam-deflection circuits of the host equipment.

Construction and operation

The beam is focused electrostatically and deflected electromagnetically. The large white screen has long persistence, making slowly changing information easier to observe. The tube has a glass baseless envelope and requires mechanical support appropriate for its size and mass.

Selection, installation and testing

A visually similar tube is not an approved substitute without a direct documentary reference. Inspect the screen, neck, leads and sealed joints before installation. Protect the glass envelope from impact and point loading; perform high-voltage tests under the host-equipment procedure.
