16LK2B purpose

The 16LK2B is a compact cathode-ray kinescope intended for television equipment and special-purpose display devices. It converts the electrical video signal into a monochrome image on a white aluminized screen.

Construction and operation

The tube uses electrostatic beam focusing and magnetic deflection. Its useful image area is approximately 98 × 120 mm. Two operating modes are specified with anode voltages of 6 and 9 kV; the higher-voltage mode provides greater screen brightness and resolving capability.

Selection, installation and testing

A visually similar tube is not an approved substitute without a direct documentary reference. Inspect the screen, neck, leads and sealed joints before installation. Protect the glass envelope from impact and point loading; connect and test high-voltage circuits under the host-equipment procedure.
