Hydraulic Pump

The NP-52M is an axial piston high-pressure hydraulic pump used in ground-based hydraulic systems for testing, servicing and checking aircraft hydraulic equipment. It belongs to the class of rotary plunger pumps and is intended for hydraulic installations where stable pressure generation and controlled delivery are required. In aviation ground support use, the NP-52M is not a simple circulation pump. It is a pressure-generating unit for hydraulic benches and mobile power systems used to simulate or support aircraft hydraulic operation during maintenance.
The main function of the NP-52M is to generate high-pressure flow of hydraulic fluid and maintain the required operating pressure in the hydraulic system. The pump can work both with delivery and in zero-delivery mode, depending on the control setting and system demand. This makes it suitable for test benches where technicians need to check hydraulic consumers, valves, actuators, regulators and system response under different load conditions. Correct pressure regulation is important because aircraft hydraulic equipment must be tested under conditions close to real operation.
The NP-52M is a variable-displacement hydraulic pump with adjustable control. It supports regulation of output characteristics and can be controlled locally or remotely depending on the installation. This allows the operator or control system to change pressure and delivery during operation. In test equipment, this is useful when gradually increasing pressure, checking leakage, holding pressure, or switching between flow and no-flow modes. If the pump does not regulate properly, the cause may be inside the pump, but also in the control circuit, inlet supply, fluid condition or hydraulic bench adjustment.
The NP-52M is used in ground hydraulic installations such as UPG-300, PGU-200/260 and similar aircraft hydraulic test stands. In these systems, the pump is part of a complete hydraulic power unit that includes a reservoir, filters, valves, gauges, control devices, relief equipment and connection lines to the serviced aircraft or component. The pump provides the pressure source, while the rest of the installation controls direction, flow, filtration and safety. For replacement, compatibility must be checked not only by pump designation, but also by stand configuration.
The NP-52M is designed to operate with aviation hydraulic fluids such as AMG-10 and 7-50s-3. Fluid cleanliness, viscosity and temperature are critical for this type of axial piston pump. Contaminated fluid, air in the inlet line, poor filtration or incorrect fluid grade can quickly affect performance and wear. Before installation or testing, the hydraulic system should be cleaned, filled with the correct working fluid and checked for inlet pressure. A pump fault can easily be confused with cavitation, clogged filters, low inlet pressure or air entering the suction line.
The NP-52M is an axial piston variable-displacement pump with clockwise rotation. It is designed for high-pressure operation and uses rotary plunger principles to create pressure in the hydraulic line. Because the unit works at high pressure, mechanical condition is important: shaft rotation, drive coupling, housing condition, adjustment mechanism, seals and leakage points should be inspected before use. The pump is relatively heavy and should be handled as a precision hydraulic unit, not as a general-purpose industrial pump.
The pump may be listed under several designations, including NP-52M, НП-52М, NP-52M-2, NP-52M-2T and NP-52M-3. These versions may differ by execution, control details, mounting, operating adjustments or application in a particular hydraulic installation. For procurement or replacement, the exact designation from the equipment passport or test stand documentation should be used. When ordering for UPG-300 or PGU-type units, it is useful to state the stand type, working fluid, required pressure range and whether remote control functionality is needed.
For aircraft ground support use, the NP-52M should be supplied with available passport, test or repair documentation. Before installation, the pump should be checked for external damage, shaft condition, direction of rotation, adjustment response, leakage, preservation state, inlet and outlet cleanliness, and compatibility with the working fluid. Bench testing is strongly recommended for a high-pressure variable pump, because visual inspection alone does not confirm regulation stability or zero-delivery operation. A serviceable pump should hold pressure, regulate smoothly and operate without abnormal heating, vibration or leakage.
