PO-250A is an electromechanical rotary converter used to supply measuring equipment associated with the TGU-8 turbine-generator unit and the PAES-2500 mobile power station, also identified as EG-2500. Motor-generator construction and control box
The PO-250A comprises a motor-generator assembly and a control box mounted on the converter structure. Two electrical machines share one housing and one shaft: a four-pole compound-wound DC motor and a four-pole single-phase synchronous generator. The generator uses a stationary magnetic system and a rotating rotor with two slip rings for AC collection. This is the operating principle of a motor–generator, in which the input motor mechanically drives the output generator.
Electrical output and operating mode
The rated input is 27 V DC and stated input current is no more than 25 A. At the output, the converter supplies 115 V single-phase AC at 400 Hz, with a rated apparent output of 250 VA, 2.17 A output current and a lagging power factor of 0.9. The common shaft operates at 12,000 rpm. The control box provides remote starting and stopping, stabilizes output voltage and filters radio-frequency interference produced during converter operation. The circuit permits remote starting without limiting the starting current.
Environmental limits and maintenance data
Published operating conditions cover ambient air from −60 to +50 °C at ground level, relative humidity up to 98% at +20 ±5 °C, and operation at altitudes up to 8,000 m at +60 °C. The converter uses protected construction with through-flow self-ventilation. Mass of the complete converter with control box is 9 kg. The specified brush grade is MGS-3; brush size is 6.5 × 8 × 22 mm and the assembly uses four brushes. These values must be checked against the passport of the offered unit before testing or installation.
