The lamp is suited to point indication, illuminated legends and local scale lighting. Its output should not be compared with general-purpose lighting lamps: the design is optimised for a small illuminated area inside an instrument. The electrical rating should be considered together with light output and operating duty. Overvoltage raises filament temperature and will normally shorten service life.

How is the lamp constructed and installed?

The 3.2 mm bulb is approximately 7 mm long, with an overall length of about 27 mm including the leads. The -2 suffix identifies this mounting arrangement and separates it from the based SMN 9-60. Before installation, compare bulb diameter, overall clearance and the exact connection method. The lamp must not be forced into an unsuitable holder, loaded through the glass envelope or fitted by changing the original mounting arrangement.
