What is the SM 13-15 lamp?
SM 13-15 is a clear aircraft incandescent lamp for compatible onboard lighting and indication equipment. Its designation identifies a rated voltage of 13 V and rated power of 15 W. This higher-output 13 V execution is used where compatible equipment specifies a 15 W aircraft lamp. Selection must follow the complete lamp marking and the equipment documentation.

Electrical and light characteristics
Reference data specify a luminous flux of 180 lm and a service-life figure of 125 hours at the rated operating point. The transparent envelope provides uncoloured light. Voltage outside the specified value changes filament temperature, light output and life, so the lamp must be matched to the intended circuit rather than chosen by appearance.
Construction and installation
The lamp uses a B15d/18 base and has reference dimensions of 44 × 23 mm. The clear glass envelope, filament supports, contact arrangement and locating pins or base profile are part of its identification. Similar SM lamps can have different contacts and ratings. Installation should be made with power removed and without forcing the glass or base into the holder.
