Description
Purpose
KGSM 27-40 is a compact quartz-halogen incandescent lamp for aircraft navigation-lighting equipment specified for KGSM 27-40. Its small quartz envelope and concentrated filament provide a high light output from a limited optical volume. Select it by the complete designation because lamps with similar capsules may differ in voltage, power, base and filament position.

Electrical and optical rating
The nominal rating is 27 V and 40 W. The published optical characteristic is Published value requires equipment-document verification; service life: By equipment documentation. These values identify the specified version. Actual performance in a fitting also depends on supply quality, contact condition, reflector alignment and the duty cycle defined by the equipment manufacturer.
Construction
The lamp uses a clear quartz envelope, tungsten filament and Special aircraft base. Its dimensional description is compact quartz aircraft capsule. Quartz-halogen lamps operate at a high envelope temperature. Fingerprints, chips, cracks, clouding, loose internal parts or damaged contacts are unacceptable. Handle the capsule with clean gloves or a lint-free tissue.
Selection and installation
Before ordering, compare the complete designation, voltage, power, base, contact arrangement and filament position with the equipment manual. Install only with the circuit isolated and the lamp cool. Do not force the base into an incompatible holder. After installation, remove contamination from the quartz surface and confirm secure retention.
