Description

DV-15MV in aircraft altitude measurement systems

The DV-15MV is an aircraft barometric altitude sensor designed to determine flight altitude by measuring atmospheric pressure. The sensor converts changes in ambient static air pressure into an electrical signal proportional to altitude. In onboard systems, this signal can be used by flight data recording equipment, air data measurement channels and pilot-navigation systems. The DV-15MV is not an altitude indicator by itself. It is a sensor that provides altitude-related information to other aircraft equipment.

Barometric altitude measurement by DV-15MV

The main function of the DV-15MV is continuous conversion of atmospheric pressure into an electrical output signal. As altitude changes, static air pressure changes as well, and the sensor transforms this pressure variation into a usable electrical parameter. This makes the unit suitable for systems that need a recorded altitude channel during flight. If the altitude signal is incorrect, the reason may be the sensor, but it may also be connected with pressure lines, static ports, wiring, power supply or the recording equipment that receives the signal.

DV-15MV in flight data recording equipment

The DV-15MV is used in onboard flight parameter recording systems, including equipment such as MSRP-12-96. In this role, the sensor supplies altitude data to the recorder, where it becomes part of the registered flight parameter set. This information may be used after flight for technical analysis, monitoring of operation or investigation of abnormal events. Since recorded altitude must be reliable, the complete measurement channel should be checked: pressure input, sensor response, electrical output, connector condition and recorder compatibility.

DV-15MV in air data and navigation systems

Besides flight recording, the DV-15MV may be used in air data and pilot-navigation equipment where barometric altitude information is required. It can be installed on civil and military aircraft and helicopters depending on configuration. The sensor is associated with Mi-8 / Mi-17 / Mi-171 family helicopter applications, as well as other aircraft equipped with compatible measurement and recording systems. Exact applicability should be confirmed by aircraft documentation, equipment list and system wiring diagram.

Operating principle of the DV-15MV sensor

The DV-15MV works with static air pressure. Its internal mechanism and electrical conversion section produce an output signal corresponding to the measured pressure / altitude value. Some supplied reference data also includes motor-type parameters such as current, rotational speed and torque. These values should be checked against the product passport for the exact execution, because different references may describe the unit, drive section or a related assembly differently. For supply or repair, the passport data should be treated as the main source.

Operating conditions of DV-15MV

The DV-15MV is designed for aviation operating conditions, including low temperature, high temperature and vibration loads typical of aircraft and helicopter service. Supplied reference data gives an operating temperature range of −60 to +85 °C, while some descriptions of modified executions mention higher temperature capability. For procurement and installation, the exact version and series should be checked before using the unit as a replacement. This is especially important when the sensor is intended for helicopter operation or harsh climatic environments.

Supply and inspection of DV-15MV

For procurement, the full designation DV-15MV / ДВ-15МВ should be specified. Before installation, the sensor should be checked for correct marking, housing condition, pressure connection, connector condition, electrical output, power consumption and compatibility with the aircraft system. Since this is a measurement sensor, external condition alone is not enough. Product passport, acceptance documents or official technical documentation should be confirmed where available.
