The B1-PrK is the main airborne transceiver unit of the Prima-KV HF radio station. It is responsible for long-range radio communication in the shortwave / decameter band and works as the central radio block of the system. In aircraft installation, this unit handles both reception and transmission, while the control panel, antenna matching unit, mounting frame and aircraft wiring complete the full radio station set. The block is used where the crew needs stable communication beyond the normal VHF line-of-sight range.
The main purpose of the B1-PrK is to provide long-distance voice and data communication from the aircraft. HF radio remains relevant where VHF coverage is limited, where the aircraft operates over remote areas, and where communication with ground stations must be maintained over extended distances. In the Prima-KV system, the transceiver operates across the HF frequency range and supports several emission classes. This allows the station to be used for voice communication, compatible amplitude modes, single-sideband operation, and data / telecode communication depending on aircraft equipment and operator requirements.
The B1-PrK does not work as a standalone cockpit radio. It is installed as part of the Prima-KV station and operates with the other system blocks. The transceiver is mounted on a shock-absorbing frame, connected to the cockpit remote control panel, and works with the antenna matching unit. The antenna matching unit is especially important in HF systems, because the aircraft antenna must be matched quickly and correctly to the selected frequency. Without proper matching, transmitter efficiency, communication range and system reliability can drop sharply.
The B1-PrK supports a wide operating frequency range with fine frequency spacing and programmable channel storage. In practical cockpit use, this means the crew can work with prepared frequencies rather than manually searching across the band every time. The radio station can store multiple channels in non-volatile memory, which is useful for civil, military, special-mission and remote-area operations. The unit is controlled from the remote control panel, while internal circuits manage reception, transmission, frequency stabilization and interaction with the connected antenna matching equipment.
The Prima-KV radio station with the B1-PrK transceiver can be installed on helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. It is associated with Mi-8MTV-1, Mi-8AMT, Mi-171, Mi-38 and other helicopter platforms, including selected Kamov aircraft such as Ka-32, Ka-226 and Ka-52 depending on configuration. It may also be used on regional and special-purpose aircraft where HF communication is required. In many installations, Prima-KV can replace older HF radio equipment, but the replacement must be checked by aircraft type, wiring, antenna system, mounting frame and approved avionics configuration.
The B1-PrK has modern digital control and interface options for aircraft integration. It can work with standard aircraft data exchange channels and serial interfaces used for control or system connection. This matters when the radio station is installed not only as a separate communication unit, but also as part of a broader avionics suite. Depending on aircraft configuration, the radio can be linked with cockpit control systems, remote panels, communication control equipment or mission equipment. Exact interface use must be confirmed from the aircraft wiring and installation documentation.
When ordering or replacing the unit, the designation B1-PrK, B1A-PrK or B1B-PrK should be specified clearly, because different modifications may have differences in configuration or interface options. It is also useful to specify whether the requirement is for the transceiver block only or for a complete Prima-KV radio station set with frame, control panel and antenna matching unit. For aircraft supply, the condition, completeness, documentation, modification, serial number and test status should be confirmed before shipment. The drawing reference LNVK.464511.001 may be used for identification where applicable.
