The 8A-5301-370-002 is an aircraft hydraulic accumulator used in Mi-8 series helicopter systems. It is installed where the hydraulic circuit needs a pressure reserve and more stable working-fluid behavior during operation. The accumulator does not create pressure like a pump. It stores part of the pressure energy already present in the system and releases it back into the line when pressure starts to drop or fluctuate.
The main task of the 8A-5301-370-002 is to help the hydraulic circuit handle short pressure changes. These changes may appear when pumps change load, valves open or close, or actuators demand flow from the system. The accumulator absorbs part of the pressure pulse and provides a small reserve volume to the line. This makes the circuit less sensitive to sudden demand changes and helps connected hydraulic units work in a smoother mode.
The 8A-5301-370-002 works inside a larger hydraulic installation. Around it are pumps, pipelines, filters, valves, fittings, hydraulic actuators and service connections. The accumulator does not control these components directly. Its role is to support the pressure condition of the line and compensate short-term pressure fluctuation. If system pressure is unstable, the reason is not always the accumulator itself. Charge pressure, leaks, pump output, valve operation, fluid contamination and connected hydraulic components should also be checked.
The 8A-5301-370-002 is a charged hydraulic accumulator. The gas side is charged with nitrogen, and the specified charging pressure is 30 ±2 kgf/cm². Nitrogen charging must be performed according to the maintenance procedure and applicable standard reference, including GOST 9239-59 where specified. Incorrect charge pressure can make the accumulator ineffective or cause abnormal hydraulic behavior, so this value should be checked before installation and during scheduled maintenance.
The accumulator is used on Mi-8 family helicopters and may also appear in supply references for Mi-17 and Mi-171 configurations, depending on operator documentation and installed equipment standard. The same helicopter family can include different hydraulic layouts after repair, overhaul or modification. For correct supply, a general reference to “Mi-8” is not enough. The installed part number, system location and required accumulator variant should be checked against the aircraft spare parts catalog.
The product may appear in several writing formats. In English export requests, the usual designation is 8A-5301-370-002. In Russian documentation, it may be written as 8А-5301-370-002, 8А-5301-370/2, 8А.5301.370-02 or 8А.5301.370.002. The marking on the cylinder may appear as 8А.5301.370.01. These variants should be checked carefully against the passport, installed-unit marking and aircraft catalog before confirming supply.
The related variant 8A-5301-370-001 may appear in the same hydraulic system documentation. It should not be treated as automatically interchangeable with 8A-5301-370-002. A visually similar accumulator can differ by variant, charge data, documentation reference or system position. Before ordering, it is better to provide the part number, helicopter type, installation location and a photo of the marking if available.
For procurement, the unit should be specified by the full designation 8A-5301-370-002, with Russian marking variants noted if needed. The passport name may be listed as hydraulic accumulator 8А-5301-370/2. The unit may be supplied new, from storage, repaired, overhauled or serviceable depending on availability. For aviation use, product passport, acceptance documents, test report or overhaul documentation should be confirmed before delivery.
