Hydraulic accumulator

The 8A-5301-370-002 is a hydraulic accumulator used in Mi-8 series helicopter systems. It is installed where the hydraulic circuit needs a pressure reserve and a more stable working fluid flow. The unit does not create pressure like a pump. It stores part of the pressure energy already present in the system and releases it back into the line when pressure starts to drop or fluctuate. In the Mi-8 hydraulic layout, this type of accumulator is normally treated as a working pressure support element, not as a separate control unit.
In service, the accumulator helps the hydraulic circuit handle short pressure changes. These changes can appear when pumps switch load, valves open or close, or actuators demand flow from the system. The accumulator absorbs part of the pressure pulse and gives the line a small reserve volume. This makes the circuit less sensitive to sudden changes in demand. It also helps connected units keep working in a smoother mode, especially where hydraulic pressure affects mechanical movement or system response.
The 8A-5301-370-002 works inside a larger hydraulic installation. Around it are pumps, lines, filters, valves, fittings, hydraulic actuators, and service connections. The accumulator does not control these parts directly. Its role is to support the pressure condition of the line. If system pressure becomes unstable, the reason is not always the accumulator itself. Maintenance personnel usually check the charge condition, leaks, pump output, valve operation, contamination of the fluid, and the condition of connected hydraulic components before making a replacement decision.
The unit is used on Mi-8 family helicopters and may also appear in supply references for Mi-17 / Mi-171 configurations, depending on the operator documentation and equipment standard. The same helicopter family can include different hydraulic layouts after repair, overhaul, or modification. For that reason, a general reference to Mi-8 is not enough for correct supply. The installed part number, system position, and required accumulator variant should be checked against the aircraft spare parts catalog or maintenance documentation.
Before ordering, the marking on the installed unit should be compared with the aircraft documentation. The related variant 8A-5301-370-001 may appear in the same hydraulic system documentation, but interchangeability must be confirmed by the applicable parts catalog. A visually similar accumulator is not always the correct replacement. For a clean request, it is better to provide the part number, helicopter type, installation location, and a photo of the marking if available. The product is also known under alternative designation 8А-5301-370-002.
