GSR-3000M Series 4 DC generator

GSR-3000M Series 4 is a 3 kW shunt-wound DC generator intended to feed an aircraft 28.5 V electrical system. The M-14P maintenance manual describes it as a four-pole machine with four interpoles, a semi-enclosed housing, flange mounting and a flexible-shaft drive. It is designed for left-hand rotation when viewed from the drive side.

Documented M-14P and Yak-18T installation

The generator is covered directly by the M-14P engine maintenance documentation. Training material for the Yak-18T Series 36 identifies GSR-3000M Series 4 as the main 28.5 V DC source installed on the engine. Effectivity for another M-14 installation should still be checked against that aircraft parts catalogue.

Electrical and operating data

Published specifications give 28.5 V DC, 3 kW at 30 V, a 100 A load current and a 4,000–9,000 rpm speed range. The documented ambient-temperature range is −60 to +50 °C. Reference tables list dimensions of 137 × 248 mm and mass of 11.6 kg; the offered unit and mounting envelope should be checked before installation.

Construction and service points

The armature uses a wave winding and commutator. Four brush holders carry two brushes each, for eight brushes in the documented construction. A terminal panel is mounted on the end shield and a pipe supplies cooling air. The semi-enclosed machine is not internally protected against liquid ingress, so the aircraft installation must provide the required protection and airflow.

Identification and compatibility

Confirm the complete Series 4 nameplate, left rotation, flexible shaft, flange, terminals and cooling connection. GSN-3000M Series 2 and other 3 kW products are separate executions despite similar ratings. Returns & Changes (Restocking Fee)
