GSR-12KIS high-output DC generator
GSR-12KIS is a 12 kW aircraft DC generator intended for a stabilized 28.5 V onboard network. Published aircraft descriptions document one generator on each R15BD-300 engine of reconnaissance versions of the MiG-25. The KIS suffix is part of the exact designation and must be retained when checking the engine drive and electrical channel.

Electrical output and speed range
The consistently published ratings are 12 kW, 28.5 V DC and an operating-speed range of approximately 4,000–9,000 rpm. Reference tables differ on nominal current, listing 400 A or about 420 A; a 450 A value is associated with a BK-2S execution in commercial data. The base GSR-12KIS card therefore records the source difference instead of presenting 450 A as universally valid.
Combined cooling at high flight speed
Technical training material describes combined evaporative cooling. Air cooling is used below approximately Mach 1.5; above that regime an alcohol-water mixture is supplied to the generator cooling jacket. The documented mixture is 50/50, with total coolant consumption about 13 ± 1 l/h and water consumption about 5–5.5 l/h. The cooling circuit and aircraft limits must be serviceable before generator operation.
Short-time overload and installation
The reviewed material records 630 A for up to one minute at 5,500–8,000 rpm and 840 A for up to ten seconds at 8,000 rpm. These are short-time limits, not continuous ratings. Installation checks include the engine drive, mounting, rotation, high-current terminals, insulation, collector and brush gear, cooling connections and the correct regulator and protection devices.

Published mass figures vary substantially between base and suffixed executions, so the individual passport and nameplate control the delivered configuration. Do not use dimensions or mass from GSR-12KIS-BK or BK-2S as values for the base unit without confirmation.
