Heading, course and glideslope display

The rotating compass card presents heading from the connected compass system. The course arrow and deviation bar show the selected course and lateral displacement when valid navigation information is available. A separate glideslope pointer supplies vertical-deviation guidance for a compatible approach receiver. NAV and HDG flags warn when the corresponding information is invalid or unavailable, and the heading bug provides a selectable reference for crew use or an approved autopilot interface.

Official product data describes this configuration as a pictorial navigation indicator with 30 Hz or 400 Hz bootstrap capability. The presentation must be interpreted as part of the complete installed system. Pointer centering alone does not prove a valid course: receiver tuning, source selection, warning flags, antenna performance, heading validity and aircraft procedures must all be considered.

KCS 55A compass-system composition
