Pitch-trim function and system relationship

Official BendixKing KAP/KFC 200 system documentation identifies the KS 272/A as the pitch-trim servo used with the approved trim-servo mount. In service, a typical signal path is flight-control computer or manual electric-trim switch → trim wiring and protection → KS 272A servo → trim mount and aircraft trim linkage. A separate KS 270-series unit normally provides the primary pitch-axis control action.

The trim servo and primary pitch servo are therefore related components, not substitutes. The KS 272A responds to trim requirements while the primary servo moves the pitch control linkage for immediate autopilot correction. Correct operation depends on wiring, clutch engagement, travel limits, trim-switch logic and mechanical rigging. Troubleshooting should address the entire chain.

Exact -50 plate readings

The original identification plate on the illustrated unit reads KS 272A Trim Servo and shows Part Number 065-0061-50. The clearly visible maximum input marking is 28 V DC / 5 A. The plate gives a weight of 2.4 lb, approximately 1.09 kg, and carries TSO C9c and DO-138 references. No obscured voltage value has been reconstructed or inferred.

The photographed serial number is 49231. The label also contains modification-status marks and an inspection stamp. These features remain part of the authentic gallery image. They should be compared with the release certificate and repair records for the unit allocated to an order. Exact connector functions and circuit protection remain governed by the applicable manual.

Installation and suffix control

The main image presents an authentic side view of the complete black housing, mounting plate, output assembly, fasteners and lead loop after removal of the partner label. The gallery image shows the exact -50 plate. Other KS 272A versions can share the same basic housing, but visual similarity does not establish identical gearing, output, connector strapping or aircraft eligibility.

Before installation, verify Part Number, modification status, servo mount, output coupling, electrical connector, clutch operation and trim-system travel. The installation must then receive the prescribed directional, disconnect and functional checks. Exact dimensions and pin assignments are not invented in this card; they must be taken from the approved drawing and maintenance data for 065-0061-50. Because part of the voltage line on the photographed plate is obscured, only the clearly readable 28 V / 5 A value is published here rather than reconstructing an uncertain second rating.
