The resulting stabilized heading is presented to the crew through a compatible KI 525 or KI 525A horizontal situation indicator.

A KA 51A or KA 51B slaving accessory may be used in the approved configuration to select manual or automatic slaving and show the direction of heading correction. A simplified relationship is KMT 112 magnetic sensing → KG 102A gyro stabilization and control → KI 525/525A heading presentation, with the KA 51-series accessory supporting slaving control and indication. These units are related system components, not substitutes for 060-0015-01.

The directional gyro supplies a stable short-term reference when magnetic information is disturbed by aircraft manoeuvre or local field variation. The slaving loop then corrects accumulated gyro drift at a controlled rate. Correct indication depends on the transmitter location, compass calibration, wiring condition, gyro health and HSI alignment; replacing the KG 102A alone will not correct a fault elsewhere in this signal path.

Published KG 102A specifications list operation from either a 14 VDC aircraft supply at up to 3 A or a 28 VDC supply at up to 1.5 A. The internal power supply provides 26 VAC at 400 Hz for gyro and flux-sensor excitation, together with regulated positive and negative 15 VDC references, an unregulated positive 15 VDC output and a positive 5 VDC supply used by compatible connected equipment. Aircraft-side protection and pin allocation must follow the approved installation drawing.

The documented KMT 112 excitation reference is 7.2 V RMS at 400 Hz. System inputs and outputs include the magnetic slaving-error path, heading-loop drive, slaving-meter information and compass-valid logic used by the compatible indicator and accessory. These are dedicated avionics interfaces rather than general-purpose power outputs. Bench connections should never be inferred from wire colours, connector appearance or another suffix.

The photographed assembly includes the remote housing, gyro section, electrical interface and mounting structure. Connector condition, shock-mount serviceability, bonding, cable support and cooling clearance should all be inspected before installation. Any test setup must use the current KG 102A maintenance data because an incorrect excitation source or load can damage the gyro or the connected compass components.
