Navigation and traffic presentation

The GMX 200 uses a 6.5-inch diagonal active-matrix LCD with 640 × 480-pixel resolution. Moving-map, flight-plan, waypoint, airport, airspace, terrain and supplemental navigation information can be displayed when compatible data sources are installed. Bezel buttons, function keys, the menu key and the rotary control provide direct access to display pages, range changes and related selections.

In an approved traffic installation, the 011-01465-00 I/O Traffic configuration can present traffic information received from compatible external equipment. The display does not itself interrogate nearby aircraft or replace the traffic sensor. Traffic availability and the meaning of displayed symbols depend on the connected traffic system, interface format and approved operational configuration.

Expanded I/O interfaces and associated equipment

In addition to the serial interfaces used by the GMX 200 family, the I/O configuration adds two ARINC 429 inputs, two ARINC 429 outputs, two ARINC 453 inputs and three active-low discrete outputs. These connections support approved integration with compatible avionics. Garmin documentation for the family identifies possible sources such as GTX 33 or GTX 330 transponders, GDL 69 or GDL 69A datalink equipment, GDL 90 traffic equipment, WX 500 storm detection equipment and selected Honeywell traffic systems.

Related equipment is not automatically included with the display and is not interchangeable with it. The published power input is 10 to 40 V DC. Maximum operating current for the I/O configuration is 2.56 A at 14 V DC or 1.39 A at 28 V DC. The qualified operating temperature range is −20 °C to +55 °C. Published environmental data also specify up to 95% relative humidity without condensation and an altitude range from −1,500 ft to 55,000 ft.

The front bezel is approximately 6.27 in wide × 5.04 in high, and the equipment body is approximately 6.25 in wide × 5.00 in high. Depth behind the panel with connectors is approximately 9.82 in, with additional space normally required for cable bends. Published I/O unit weight is 4.6 lb, while installed weight with the mounting tube is approximately 5.4 lb. The active display area is 5.2 × 3.9 in.
