BS-037 radio-altimeter communication unit
BS-037, marked in Cyrillic as БС-037, is a communication and signal-forming unit in the A-037 low-altitude radio-altimeter equipment family. A university technical manual for aircraft radio-navigation aids places BS-037 in the A-037 signal chain together with the receiver, low-frequency amplifier, power supply and cockpit indicators.

Documented function
The manual describes two principal functions: inverting the voltage proportional to measured altitude and forming an audible warning when the aircraft crosses the selected danger-height threshold. The warning circuit is triggered by the +27 V danger-height command from the UV-5M indicator and generates a 400 Hz audio signal for approximately 6 ±3 seconds. This is part of a radar-altimeter system, not a general-purpose communication block.
BS-037 relationships inside A-037
BS-037 works in a defined A-037 configuration. Related BP-037, UNCh-037M, BI-037 indicators and A-037 transmitting-receiving units are useful navigation links, but they are separate components. The block also contains the documented adjustment path used to set the zero-altitude reference.
Aircraft installation context
The A-037 radio-altimeter family is documented on Mi-8MTV equipment and in maintenance documentation for several Soviet transport-aircraft families. That supports an aircraft and Mi-8 helicopter context for BS-037, but the exact A-037 execution and installation list must be checked for each airframe. A common A-037 family name does not guarantee connector or modification compatibility.
