BPS-47 Series 4 system purpose

A compressor stall or surge can disrupt airflow through a gas-turbine engine. The documented BPS-47 protection chain includes the BPS electronic block, a surge sensor, KRPS command equipment and an AOT fuel-cutoff actuator. The block coordinates the protective response; it is neither the sensor nor the complete protection system on its own.

Documented MiG-23 context

Maintenance records explicitly mention BPS-47 and KRPS-55 equipment on MiG-23M aircraft, while technical discussion of the MiG-23 anti-surge system describes repeated short fuel interruptions and protective-start logic before restoration of the previous engine mode. This supports the MiG-23 family context, but it does not identify every aircraft modification or prove that the cited aircraft used Series 4 rather than another BPS-47 execution.

Series identification

Series 4 must remain in the designation. BPS-47 Series 4 and Series 5 may share a family name yet differ in circuits, connector pinout, settings or supported system execution. They are presented as related products for navigation, not as substitutes. Selection requires the exact Cyrillic plate, series, drawing number, connectors and the parts catalogue for the aircraft and engine concerned.

Inspection and ordering

Inspect the enclosure, mounting points, connector contacts, seals and plate before testing. Use only the approved bench procedure and known interfaces. An enquiry should include photographs of all markings, the installed engine or aircraft reference, quantity, condition and required passport or acceptance documents.
