Description

BI12-2 fuel measurement unit

BI12-2 is one of two measurement units in the SPUT1-5VE programmed fuel control and measurement system installed on the An-26. It processes the capacitance-sensor circuits for fuel quantity measurement and works with the system indication and automatic fuel-management equipment. This documented role replaces the former generic description that did not identify what the unit measures.

SPUT1-5VE functions on the An-26

The SPUT1-5VE system automatically and manually controls fuel transfer, measures fuel in each tank group and total fuel in the left and right wings, signals a remaining quantity of 580 kg and controls centralized refuelling. On the An-26, the BI12-2 units are installed on the right side of the fuselage between frames 5 and 6.

Documented delivery-set equipment

The aircraft technical description lists two BI12-2 units with two BU9V-3 automation units, two each of DTS10-9, DT27-9, DTSK-4, DTS10-10 and DTS10-8 capacitance sensors, one 2PPT2K-4 indicator, two PD16-1 remote switches, one PG5K-1 selector and two 2PP-250 switches. These part numbers identify the system connections and are useful when checking an incomplete set.

Construction and power circuits

BI12-2 contains bridge measuring circuits, rectifiers, capacitors, relays, amplifiers and transformers. The measurement chain determines total fuel for each engine and can sequentially display individual tank groups. A 115 V AC circuit supplies the BI12-2 units and the 2PPT2K-4 indicator motor, while 27 V DC supplies the PD16-1 relay coils. Connector pinout and adjustment points follow the An-26 system documentation.

Inspection and supply request

Match the BI12-2 plate, connector keys, mounting and SPUT1-5VE execution. Inspect the enclosure, contacts, seals and evidence of heat or moisture, then test with the approved capacitance-sensor simulator. A request should include BI12-2, An-26 modification, system configuration, quantity, condition, passport and delivery set. Related SPUT4-1 BI16-1 equipment is from another system generation. More products are listed in Electronic Control Units.
