BCU-8 is the catalogue form of the Russian БЦУ-8 target designation unit. The strict transliteration is BTsU-8. Su-25 armament-system documentation lists it among the control blocks of the SUO-T8-A weapon-control system. The Russian product title has been corrected from БСУ-8 to БЦУ-8.

BCU-8 belongs to the target-designation and signal-control chain of the SUO-T8-A system. It operates as one element of a distributed equipment set rather than as a standalone sight or weapon controller.
