GA-230-2
needle throttle valve
Description
GA-230-2 Manual needle-type hydraulic throttle valve
GA-230-2 is a manual needle-type hydraulic throttle valve that manually adjusts working-fluid flow and thereby controls the start, stop or speed of a compatible hydraulic mechanism. The unit is an independent functional component of the applicable onboard system. Selection should be based on the complete designation, working medium, setting and installation diagram rather than appearance alone.

Operating principle of GA-230-2
Turning the handle moves a needle relative to its seat and changes the flow area. The resulting restriction varies the hydraulic flow supplied to the consumer, including windshield-wiper drives in documented applications. Reliable operation depends on clean working fluid, the moving element, seat, springs and seals. Contamination, reversed connections or an unsuitable pressure can prevent the intended response.
Role in the aircraft system
Aircraft hydraulic auxiliary circuits, including start, stop and speed adjustment of windshield-wiper mechanisms. An-24 / An-26 documentation lists GA-230 variants among hydraulic throttle valves. The valve works with pipelines, a pressure source, downstream equipment and the control elements of its circuit. These products are functionally related but must not be described as interchangeable merely because they operate in the same system.
Installation and maintenance checks
Before installation, verify the nameplate, ports, flow direction, internal cleanliness and seal condition. Working pressure, temperature, fluid and the prescribed functional test must come from the passport and maintenance documentation. Adjustment without approved instructions is not permitted. Incoming-inspection results should remain with the product records.
Identifying GA-230-2 for ordering
Confirm whether GA-230-2, GA-230-00-2 or another suffix is required. Verify needle setting, port threads, mounting and rated flow before ordering. Other related products are listed in the valves category. An enquiry should state the complete designation, execution, condition, delivery set and required supporting documents.
