GA-140
two-position valve
Description
GA-140 Two-position solenoid spool valve
GA-140 is a two-position solenoid spool valve that supplies hydraulic fluid to engage a selected aircraft mechanism and, on An-24 / An-26 installations, supports accelerated landing-gear retraction. The unit is an independent functional component of the applicable onboard system. Selection should be based on the complete designation, working medium, setting and installation diagram rather than appearance alone.

Operating principle of GA-140
The solenoid pilot controls a spring-loaded main spool. When energized, the spool changes the hydraulic connection and supplies the commanded line; when de-energized, the spring returns it to the normal position. Reliable operation depends on clean working fluid, the moving element, seat, springs and seals. Contamination, reversed connections or an unsuitable pressure can prevent the intended response.
Role in the aircraft system
An-24 and An-26 landing-gear hydraulic system. The GA-140 disconnects the main-system accumulator from its charging line during retraction so available pump flow accelerates gear movement. The valve works with pipelines, a pressure source, downstream equipment and the control elements of its circuit. These products are functionally related but must not be described as interchangeable merely because they operate in the same system.
Installation and maintenance checks
Before installation, verify the nameplate, ports, flow direction, internal cleanliness and seal condition. Working pressure, temperature, fluid and the prescribed functional test must come from the passport and maintenance documentation. Adjustment without approved instructions is not permitted. Incoming-inspection results should remain with the product records.
Identifying GA-140 for ordering
Verify whether GA-140 or a suffix execution such as GA-140/2, /3 or /4 is required. The mounting, ports and electrical configuration must match the aircraft parts catalogue. Other related products are listed in the valves category. An enquiry should state the complete designation, execution, condition, delivery set and required supporting documents.
