L-006LM-4

Information presented to the pilot

The L-006LM system warns the crew when the aircraft is illuminated by ground-based air-defence radars, missile-guidance radars or airborne interception radars. Block 4 provides the visual interface for this warning information. Published operating material describes indication of threat direction, radar operating mode and relative danger; the complete equipment also supplies an audible warning through the aircraft intercommunication system.

Role within the L-006LM system

The indicator is only one element of the L-006LM installation, which also includes receiving antennas and signal-processing units. It does not detect radar emissions independently and must be connected to the correct system execution and aircraft wiring. The equipment is documented on aircraft including the MiG-29; applicability of the exact Block 4 execution must be checked against the aircraft equipment list.

Selection and technical verification

When selecting L-006LM-4, compare the complete designation, block number, connector arrangement, mounting points and nameplate data. Similar L-006 and L-006LM components perform different antenna, processing, indication or control functions and are not automatic substitutes. Exact supply voltage, pin assignment, dimensions and mass must be taken from the passport or maintenance documentation for the required execution.

Inspection and ordering

Before installation, inspect the display face, controls, housing, connectors, contacts, seals and mounting hardware. Functional acceptance requires connection to compatible L-006LM test equipment and cannot be established by an isolated power-on check. An enquiry should state L-006LM-4, aircraft type and modification, required documentation and quantity. Other cockpit units are available in Control Panel.
