A-723-7 is an airborne control and indication panel used in the A-723 Kvitok long-range radio navigation system. The panel provides the crew or navigator with an interface for entering route data, monitoring navigation information and controlling selected operating functions of the receiver-indicator equipment. Navigation information displayed by A-723-7
The A-723-7 panel displays navigation information processed by the A-723 Kvitok receiver-indicator system. The displayed data may include current aircraft geodetic coordinates, latitude and longitude, ground speed, current date, time and assigned track angle. The panel also supports indication of aircraft deviation from the desired track line. This allows the crew or navigator to monitor route progress and compare actual aircraft position with the planned route. The accuracy of displayed data depends on the radio navigation network used and the condition of the complete A-723 system.
Data input through the A-723-7 panel
The A-723-7 allows manual entry and correction of route waypoint coordinates. The front panel includes a numeric command keypad used to input data and verify its storage in system memory. The panel supports entry and storage of up to several intermediate route points, allowing the operator to prepare or adjust route information during operation. The unit also includes controls for brightness adjustment, automatic or manual operation selection and switching of operating modes. Correct button operation, display readability and interface communication should be checked during maintenance.
A-723-7 in the A-723 Kvitok system
The A-723-7 works with the receiver-indicator equipment of the A-723 Kvitok long-range navigation system. The system uses signals from ground-based reference stations of impulse-phase and phase long-range navigation networks, including Chaika, Loran-C, RSDN-20 Alpha and the Mars-75 multi-frequency system where applicable. The panel itself does not receive navigation radio signals directly; it provides control, data entry and display functions for the system. Navigation calculation, signal processing and coordinate determination are performed by the associated receiver-indicator and system equipment.
