The A-037 Variant 11 is a complete onboard radio altimeter set designed to measure the true flight altitude of a helicopter above any surface — land, water, or rugged terrain.
The set consists of the A-037-1A transceiver, A-034-4-13 indicator, two AR5-1 antennas, and mounting harness/frames GU4.137.080-01.

The A-037 provides the aircraft crew and onboard systems with:
• continuous display of current height on the analog pointer indicator;
• aural and visual low-altitude warning when descending below the preset threshold;
• fault indication — a red flag on the indicator scale when the system fails, when radar contact with terrain is lost, or when the aircraft exceeds the 300 m display range.

The system operates using continuous-wave radar with frequency modulation.
The transceiver emits a modulated radio signal, receives the reflected return, and computes true height in real time.
