Description

The Altitude Indicator A-034-4-8AF is the export version of the A-034-4-8 pointer-type height indicator, used as part of the A-037 radio altimeter system and compatible altimeter sets.

The AF (export) modification is fully equivalent to the standard A-034-4-8 in design and performance, with the key differences being:

  • all control panel markings in English,

  • interface elements labeled for international operators,

  • export configuration for civil and foreign-operated aircraft.

The indicator provides visual display of true altitude in the range from 0 to 1000 meters, suitable for low-, mid- and extended low-altitude flight.
Its scale is divided into three resolution zones for reliable low-altitude precision and simplified high-altitude reading:
0–20 m – 5 m increments
20–100 m – 10 m increments
100–1000 m – 100 m increments

The instrument includes a Danger Height setting sector, an integrated warning lamp and a drop-out blinker flag, which activates when the altimeter becomes inoperative or loses ground reflection.

A front-panel TEST button allows system verification: a functioning altimeter drives the pointer to the reference height mark; if unresponsive, the blinker drops into view to alert the crew.

A-034-4-8AF is panel-mounted and interfaces with A-037-1 series transceivers and associated antennas.

Alternate / Alternative designations:
A-034-4-8AF, A034-4-8AF, A-034-4-8 export indicator, 1000 m pointer indicator
